ANDPOP: Carly Rae, the Wanted and Cody Simpson
During my time at ANDPOP I was able to cover red carpets and live interviews with actors and musicians. A few of my favourites are below.
I helped produced an interview with London boy band, The Wanted. The band performed a few of their hit songs at a Toronto hotel. It was the first time I experienced throngs of fans waiting outside the hotel for a glimpse of the boys. Even opening the curtains in the hotel room and waving inspired screams.
After our interview with The Wanted, we quickly ran over to a King St. hotel for a quick interview with Carly Rae Jepsen, ahead of her show in Toronto. We had to work quickly because she was doing media scrums all day, around the time of her "Call Me Maybe" hit.
YouTube sensation Karmin did a live show at Gibson in Liberty Village. Ahead of the event, we ran a contest and chose about 50 lucky fans to watch it live. I produced it, keeping time and making sure the host stayed on track.
One of the biggest live shows I produced was with Australian's Cody Simpson—who was often compared to Justin Bieber. We held a contest for fans to come watch his show live and had hundreds of applications. We chose them randomly and called each one of them personally on our live show, recording their reactions.
A few of the fans for our live show with Lawson.
Fans were lining up on one of the coldest days of the year so we invited them inside and served them Tim Hortons coffee to keep them warm.
